Rhine Legions. Anonymous, circa May/June-December 68. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.29 g, 2 h), uncertain mint in Gaul or in the Rhine Valley. 'G P R Group I' - 'SIGNA P R Group'. GENIVS P R Diademed head of the Genius of the Roman people to right; behind, scepter. Rev. SIGNA / P - R Aquila to right before lighted altar; signum on either side. BMC p. 299, * = CG 80.1 = Martin 62 and pl. 5, 62 Bald. = Nicolas 92 and pl. VII, 92 BAL (this coin). Cohen 408 (this coin?). Apparently unique. A beautifully toned coin with a great pedigree. Very fine.
